Miniature Ideas

1. Take a picture of a bus tire and another photo of someone laying down and put them together to form a image that looks like they're trapped and trying to escape the tire.

2. Create a image of a person balancing on the edge of a dock or one of them falling into the water.

3. Someone hanging onto the edge of a water bottle.

4. Someone exploring into the cave that is the Otis Spunkmeyer wrapper.

5. There is this cool hole in a tree over by the bridge that could be a good spot for a miniature person to sit.

The key will be matching the lighting of the two images by taking them in similar places at similar times. Additionally manually focusing the background image into wherever the miniature subject will be photoshopped in will add to the photo as a whole.

What makes good art?

Good art is something thats incredibly hard to define. One one hand art that is appealing can be linked to math and something intricate about the human body. Patterns such as the Golden Rectangle, phi, the rule of thirds and others seem to be naturally appealing to humans. Something about our DNA makes us naturally drawn to such patterns. An artist that can identify and capture these tendencies is able to create art that is universally pleasurable. Paintings like Dali's or the Mona Lisa as well as Classical Architecture capture these mathematical codes. But on the other hand, good art is one that portrays a certain mood or feeling to the viewer. This aspect is more personal, dealing with one's own connection to the art. Perhaps the photograph portrays a sense of adventure to a young teenage boy, or a different painting portrays class to an aspiring fashion worker. Either way, art that expresses the mood or desire of the viewer can be much more appealing to the onlooker. Some pieces of art may have broader messages that lead them to become more popular. Good art is by no means something simple to explain, however one can reason that a mixture of innate human tendencies and personal connections combine to shape the popularity of the piece.

Clyde Butcher

I like this picture taken by Clyde Butcher because the scene is very interesting. He took it at a cool and pretty place and incorporated in good composition techniques including the rule of thirds (with the tree in the foreground). It makes me want to go wherever this is. Additionally the black and white aspect makes it feel timeless. I really like this image because it is taken at a really interesting place and positions it so the foreground and background work together nicely.
